Land Assembly Grandview Woodland 2018 :  City of Vancouver Initiated Massive Zoning Changes to 438 Properties in Grandview-Woodland

City of Vancouver has started the rezoning of a total of 438 single-family and two-family properties in Grandview-Woodland neighborhood of East Vancouver as part of the Grandview-Woodland community plan approved by council in 2016.

The proposed zoning changes would allow for new housing choices in the community, including townhouses and rowhouses (on arterial streets), 4-storey apartments and 4-storey mixed-use in specific area. The measure is expected to enable the development of 3,000 new housing units.

Grandview-Woodland is bordered by Burrard Inlet, East 12th Avenue, Nanaimo Street, and Clark Drive. The proposed city-initiated rezoning is intended to minimize the need for individual site-specific rezoning applications, streamline the development process, and encourage the development of multi-family housing units according to the City Planning. A public hearing for the massive zoning changes was scheduled on July 10, 2018.
