What Are the Parking Requirements for Developments in Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Areas?

In Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) areas, the City cannot enforce minimum residential off-street parking requirements, except for accessible parking spaces for individuals with disabilities. This change, mandated by the Province, allows parking volumes to be determined by market demand rather than city standards. However, these restrictions do not affect commercial off-street parking requirements, which remain subject to existing regulations.

This approach aligns with the Province’s goal to promote sustainable, transit-focused development by reducing reliance on private vehicles in TOD zones near SkyTrain and other transit hubs.
